Maracajaú is a peaceful coastal village with around 2,500 residents. Located 56 km north from Natal, it is synonymous with peace and quiet. The small fishing village still retains its original charm, with sailing rafts anchored on the sea shore. The people are very welcoming and their main source of income comes from artesian fishing.
Maracajaú is also known as the Caribbean of the Rio Grande do Norte. The area enjoys crystal clear waters, and its "parrachos" - coral reefs - 7 km from the shore, shelter hundreds of species of beautiful oceanic fauna and flora. Diving and snorkelling trips are extremely popular and even along the coastline one can see a fascinating selection of tropical marine life. The long version - The property market in Natal is still in its infancy stage. The coastline around Natal is development free and in the last few years most of the land has been sold to developers and is now ready to be built upon.
